Curriculum
The RYT 200 works primarily on Self development in terms of the fundamentals of being a Yogi/Yoga Instructor. In this program, the orientation is working with ourselves (and different aspects thereof) as the first student (and undoubtedly the hardest student you will ever have to teach). This represents the old and authentic way Yogis of the past applied the tools of yoga as inward explorers both gaining new self perspective and then self guiding the expansive changes and awakening.
The heart of the course revolves around 24 Saturday and Sunday intensives (6 hours each day) that are every other weekend. St. Petersburg Yoga's program consists of 4 hour intensives versus 8 or more hour program models simply because we are interested in maximizing learning potential.
The RYT 500 Hour Certificate requires a 200 Yoga Alliance certificate and is 300 additional hours. The design here is to further what was gained from the earlier self practice and focus on more inward depth and more outward application. It takes place on about every 3rd weekend (see schedule).
Unique to the program is a self chosen Yoga Project that, like a Graduate Level Thesis, will be designed and developed through the program under the guidance of an ERYT-500 instructor. In addition, the 500-Hour program will incorporate 30-40% of the course on teaching in many settings. Extensive time will be spent on creating, critiquing and teaching private clients, group classes, corporate classes, workshops and even teaching in the 200TT program.
